Moral education film 《Pretty Heart》production
Moral education film production
In 2017, HKSEF funded Baptist University to refocus the public on moral education and its importance to society through film, television and interactive digital production. Through the filming of the movie "Inner Beauty", the public, especially young people, paid attention to moral education, and also encouraged young people who were facing public examinations at that time not to give up. The movie started filming on August 28, 2020, starring Jennifer Yu Heung Ying, Vincent Wong Ho Shun, Hugo Ng Toi Yung, and Astrid Chan Chi Ching. The film was screened at Baptist University in October 2021 for students, parents, and principals to watch, and was premiered at Broadway PREMIERE ELEMENTS on the evening of July 19, 2022. It was officially released in Hong Kong on July 28 of the same year.
The inspirational family film "Beauty in the Heart" was produced by HKSEF and the Hong Kong Baptist University’s Academy of Film and distributed by Gala Film Distribution Co., Ltd. It was produced by three heavyweight filmmakers Fruit Chan, O Sing-Pui and Wu Yu.
The firm was directed by the emerging local director Terry Ng Ka Wai, who was born in Hong Kong, starring Jennifer Yu Heung Ying, Vincent Wong Ho Shun, Hugo Ng Toi Yung, with guest appearances by Law Kar Ying, Astrid Chan Chi Ching and Lelia Chow Mei Fung.
The story takes Hong Kong's hot topic "education" as the entry point. In addition to reflecting the daily challenges that local teachers and students face, it also brings out a love relationship between a professional tutor and a school teacher who are naturally incompatible. Besides, the movie talks about an inextricable grudge and hatred between a father and his daughter.
"Pretty Heart" is one of the few local films based on contemporary teenagers about growing up. The protagonists in the story are "suffering from each other, but living together". The setbacks they encounter are also our daily life. They fall and stand up again, supporting each other, and at the same time bringing touch and warmth to the audience, sending full positive energy to society.
